The Global Leader in Reliable Energetic Solutions

Overview

Demolition initiation is a changing world. Being a market leader in Non-Electric Initiation Systems since 1986, EBA&D understands the paradigm changes of military doctrine and the usefulness of shock tube technology to fulfill mission readiness.

As users evaluate their requirements against the growing threats of the future, shock tube initiation fulfills the role once occupied by electric initiators. It also provides enhanced safety, reliability and utility to the ultimate end user.

EBA&D employs system design tools to deliver fully integrated Non-Electric Initiation Systems. We develop an understanding of customer requirements through a cooperative process, incorporating competencies of design, development, and manufacturing, delivering complete solutions.

Products Offered

Non-Electric Initiation can be broken into three product categories.

  • Initiating Devices—Used to start the initiation system functioning, typically through mechanical or percussive action. EBA&D can provide devices such as Shock Tube Initiators, and MK55/MK54 Initiating Devices, as well as our Versatile Mechanical Firing Device
  • Initiators—Linear signal transmission devices designed to transmit a signal through shock tube to a specific pre-packaged output. Examples of these products are our Lead-In-Lines, Non-Electric Detonators, and Delay Detonator Elements
  • Initiating Assemblies—Pre-packaged assemblies containing an Initiating Device, Initiator, and designed to provide a specific output, such as the EBA&D Integral Firing Devices

Design Considerations

Initiators—Shock Tube based devices activated by Initiation Devices with specific energetic output. EBA&D has a wide range of design options for existing and new products, including:

  • Shock Tube diameter (0.085"/2mm, 0.118"/3mm, or 0.150"/3.8mm)
  • Color (pigmented as required, or translucent)
  • Single lead or Dual lead construction
  • Device length
  • Output strength and shell diameter (No. 8 and No. 12 strength typical in .0241" or 0.296" diameters)
  • Wide range of pyrotechnic delays (including Zero Delay)
  • Coiling configuration (Lariat, Figure 80, or spooled)

Packaging—Packaged to meet commercial specifications or specific military requirements.

Accessories—In addition, EBA&D supplies our Non-Electric Initiators and Initiating assemblies with a wide variety of accessories that aid in the integration of the Initiator to Initiating Devices and field munitions.

  • J-Hooks, for initiating shock tube from Primacord® Detonating Cord
  • Bunch Blocks, to initiate Primacord® Detonating Cord from a detonator output or multiple shock tubes
  • Dual Adapters, to integrate a dual lead shock tube assembly to an MK54 firing device
  • Detonating Cord Connectors, to connect easily

Through knowledgeable design, a complete initiation system can be put together using the appropriate initiating devices initiator and the appropriate accessories.
