Description

Disconnects are used on strategic missiles and space launch vehicles to connect energetic components across separation planes. The disconnect ensures reliable energetic transfer by controlling transfer interface geometry, while providing for separation during a staging event.

They are designed to be insensitive to shock, acceleration, vibration loads and torque loading.

Disconnects are constructed primarily from 6061 aluminum alloy to meet stress corrosion requirements. A chemical conversion coating is applied for providing a grounding path for static electricity.

EBA&D disconnects satisfy the range safety requirements of EWR 127-1, which specifies the alignment for explosive charges for reliable detonation transfer.
